Task 1 & Task 2 Lady Macbeth

Task 1                                                                                                                                                                     Lady Macbeth really loves her husband, a feeling  which is portrayed in the quotation “my dearest partner of greatness”  On the other hand, she views him as having a soft heart, as being too kind to undergo such a daring task as that of overthrowing king Duncan. this is suggested  in the quotation ” yet do I fear thy  nature. It is full o’ the milk of human kindness to catch the nearest way”. It is like  she saying that a kind person like he is,  would never do anything as audacious and evil as usurping the king’s throne.                                           Macbeth also considers her husband lacking ambition and being too honest, which can be inferred  in the quotation “Art thou without ambition … wouldst not play false”                                                                                             In a word, though lady Macbeth loves her husband, she takes  him for a weak man, one who would never take all measures possible to reach his aims.

Task 2                                                                                                                                                                      The first quotation that I believe has symbols that help us characterize lady Macbeth is “when I burned in desire to question them further”                                                                                                                              This quotation portrays lady Macbeth has an  extremely prying sort of person, one who can hardly help herself  from questioning people .This nosiness of hers is something she can not avoid  as it is like a fire that burns her from inside.Another quotation I chose is”The raven himself is hoarse”. It brings with it an innuendo  of death, as we usually associate ravens with death bearing in mind that they like to be around corpses and decay. Her use of these words suggests she doesn’t fear battle nor the slaughtering of soldiers if it helps her reach her goals. The last quotation I picked from the extracts i had  was ” Come to my woman’s breast and take my milk for gall, you murdering ministers”.On the one hand,it links with the idea of motherhood as a woman needs milk to feed her babies, so it is close to the idea of bringing about life and also nurturing as children often take refuge in their mothers’ bosom for affection and protection. The last part of this quotation completely detaches herself  from that same idea of protection. when she asks to have her milk replaced by gall, which stands for ruthless and insolence, it is like she is refusing all those womanly feelings mentioned above..

These three quotations help her characterize lady Macbeth has a bold person, one who doesn’t show   fear and someone who has these manly, shall we call it to go into war than women.

Reading project HW1 27/04/2016

I am currently reading “Tom Gates- Yes! No. (maybe)” by L. Pichon.By mum bought this book for me during the Easter holidays but i only started reading it last week. I am enjoying reading this book as it has both pictures and words, which makes it much more interesting and lively.

The book has two stories:one is about Tom and his sister (Delia), who have a row about a cereal that Tom was going to have for breakfast before Delia took of him.then Tom ran across the kitchen and took all the spoons and all the forks,so Delia couldn’t eat the cereal but she used chopstick to eat the cereal. Then their parents came into the kitchen and told Tom and Delia off for making much noise and Toms mum promised him that she’s going to buy more for him.

The other story in the book is about Tom and his dad were doing and yard sale and Toms dad accidentally sold Toms mum cat brooch. When his dad realizes that he sold it he tell tom to find it. When Tom was out with his uncle and aunt they went to a shop and bought and scouter and a couple of music discs he looks down and sees his mums cat brooch and buys it and takes it to his dad have a celebration  and gives it back to his mum with out she knowing that they sold it.

i am really enjoying reading this book because i really like the main character,Tom. Tom is a very naive child but he is like most kids my age: he is funny, lively and has the tendency to get himself into trouble as things usually happen to him.

Homework II- Writing at length

Puss in Boots

When I was a child, I loved the moment I went to bed as every night my mother would come and tell me or read me a story. One of my favourite ones was “Puss in Boots”. I still remember the cover of the book she read from, a hard cover red book with lots of pictures to illustrate the story.
Puss in Boots is the story of a young miller’s son who received a cat when his father passed away. He was very unhappy as he didn’t know what he could do with such a useless inheritance. All of a sudden he realises this cat is extremely bright. he is even able to speak! Being smarter than his master, the Puss only asks his owner to give him some Boots. The pet starts plotting a way to help his master have a more financially stable life. Having in mind this, Puss in Boots comes across the King and makes him think that his master, a marquis,is a very wealthy powerful man.
At a point, the Puss gives lots of land to the young miller’s son because he tricks an evil giant into transforming into a small mouse (which the cat immediately swallows!), thus making it possible for his young master to claim the land as his.
Later on the cat arranges for an accident to occur to the Princess, conveniently arranging for the young miller’s son to be there to rescue, earning the King’s eternal gratitude and, eventually his daughter’s hand in marriage.
I have never forgotten this story and I continuously asked my mother to read to me as a child as I really admired the cat’s wit and shrewdness to come up with all the tricks to deceive the giant and eventually end his cruelty and tyranny by trapping him and eating him. I also enjoyed reading about everything he did to allow his young master to raise himself from the condition of a poor miller’s son into a marquis.
I still remember my mother saying that stories like this had lots of teachings for us and in this case was to make us think that if we are smart and diligent, we can always improve our situation, like the young miller did.
Though he was extremely sad at the beginning of the book because his father hadn’t been very generous with him, thinking that he must have loved his older brothers more than he did to him, he realised that he was the one who had received the best inheritance of all.
For all of this: the story itself, the morals in the end and also because I really like cats, I can say this is one of my favourite stories.

Film Review

The Kingsman: Secret Service
The film I am writing about is “The Kingsman: secret service”. It is a film directed by Matthew Vaughn and its main characters are : “Eggsy”, Merlin , Harry Hart, Roxy and Valentine.
Apart from Valentine,I liked all of the characters as all of them show bravery and intelligence. Valentine, on the other hand, was extremely coward and always avoided more dangerous situations. he was cunning as he always had someone do evilness for him. He didn’t really want to face problems nor enemies. In fact, though he is a world threat as he he is extremely wealthy and he is egomaniac, who only thinks on himself, he poses as a very altruist person. I particularly disliked the fact that Valentine always pretended to be a nice guy and got involved with lots of charity work, so he becomes famous through his philanthropic work, while, deep down, he is just eliminating important people.
The film focus on “Eggsy”, a young potential secret service agent, son of a former secret agent as well, who had died seventeen years before on the call of duty.
The story starts off with “Eggsy” arguing with his stepdad. later on the potential agent goes to the pub with his friends and then a guys that he knows starts calling him names. After that Eggsy leaves the pub without the other guy. Not knowing that he had taken the guy’s car keys until he hears them shouting and laughing, Eggsy speeds off but comes back reversing with the police in front of him. He eventually gets caught, sits in the interview room waiting. After he calls the number on the medal that he was given by the secret service when his real father was killed, he leaves the police station and meets Harry Hart, who is part of the secret service who served with Eggsy’s dad before he died. Hart tells him about the secret service and says that the agency is open and Eggsy joins up and is tested with a bunch of other candidates, including a girl called Roxy, whom he befriends.
Merlin is the man who oversees their training. At the end Roxy and Eggsy are the last ones but Eggsy fails by not shooting his dog. Soon after he realises his gun had been secretly loaded with blanks.
Meanwhile,Hart tracks down Valentine to a church where the latter as well as Gazelle (Valentine’s henchewoman) were conducting a test. They broadcast a signal which causes a massacre in the church and Hart is violenty killing people uncontrollably and ends up being the sole survivor, so he comes out the church but Valentine shots him. Later, Eggsy hears about this and ends up crying. He goes to the Secret service headquarters and is told by Merlin to team up with him and Roxy .They put Roxy in a high altitude balloon then Eggsy goes to Valentine and kills Gazelle and Valentine, thus saving the world.
